"A Potentially Paradigm-Shifting Series of Women Performers at the New School."
"Rapturous Musical Cross-Pollination at Women Between Arts at the New School."
"How do you market something that resists easy categorization? Maybe by calling it what it is: outside the box. Considering the turnout, there definitely is an audience for what might be the only interdisciplinary series focusing on women performers whose work encompasses so many different idioms in New York right now."
"[...] When Muhr springboarded the project, she’d assumed that Women Between Arts would be one of at least five or six ongoing programs here. But this seems to be the only one at the moment."
"[...] In pushing the boundaries of diverse idioms, a program like Muhr’s has the potential to spur the growth of new synapses for both audiences and performers."
"One would think that there would be several series in this city devoted to women whose work crosses the line between different artistic disciplines, but this appears to be the only one at present. What’s new with Muhr’s series is that it isn’t just a place for women artists who defy categorization: it’s also a space where adventurous established artists can branch out beyond their usual practice."

ABOUT WOMEN BETWEEN ARTS
Women Between Arts (WBA) is New York’s leading interdisciplinary womxn and non-binary artists series, founded and curated by multi- and interdisciplinary artist Luisa Muhr at The New School, College of Performing Arts. The series is a one-woman-run project created in October 2017 and focuses on anyone who identifies as a womxn or non-binary person and their groups/ensembles/collaborators (including people of all genders and non-binary people), who works with any combination of music/sound, theater, dance/movement, poetry, performance art, installation, film and/or visual arts in an unconventional way. Each series features three womxn/non-binary artists and/or their groups and a talk-back after the sets where audience members have the opportunity to engage with the artists.
Muhr’s mission is to provide a platform for and encourage dialogue between strong, diverse womxn/non-binary artists who push boundaries and work "between" disciplines.
Our events usually last between 75 and 90 minutes and take place at The New School, College of Performing Arts Glass Box Theater (55 W 13th St, New York, NY 1001), unless otherwise indicated.
Please keep checking in for updates on future events and featured artists.

Translation excerpt (Eva Petrič on Women Between Arts):
"I am glad as well that the established artist on the field of sound and the well known curator Luisa Muhr included me into her series Women Between Arts that runs now for the second year at the Glass Box Theatre at the New School," says Eva Petric. Women Between Arts is at this moment the leading interdisciplinary series of women artists in New York. Luisa Muhr established it for creators that identify themselves as women or women's group and are creating in whatever combination of music, theatre, poetry, performance, installations and visual art - all these in an unconventional way."

"I have a whole bus ride to process the three beautifully wild and moving performances that I became immersed in this evening. Thanks to these artists, I feel like my world has shifted a bit."

"Hi! I was at Women Between Arts on Sunday, and I just wanted to thank you so much for creating such an amazing thing [...] The premise of the event really resonated with me; all of the performers were amazing and I loved the idea of bringing something new to traditional music. I wanted you to know how much of an impact it really had on me; you're doing amazing work and I hope you keep it up! As someone who loves the musical theatre world but isn't very talented in the singing department, the idea of vocal techniques really has an impact on me. To go to an event like yours and see other people appreciating art forms like that really gave me a boost of confidence. I am beginning to explore colleges, as I'm in eleventh grade, and I can only hope that if I do end up in NYC [...] that you'll still be doing Women Between Arts so that I can regularly attend. Once again, thank you beyond words and please continue to do what you do. It is appreciated beyond words by myself and I am sure by others like me."
--- Anna M. Rafferty (eleventh grade)
